Exterior Styling

The 2020 Toyota Corolla is a compact sedan that still feels cavernous. It has a deep, wide grille, LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRL), a sleek profile with 15-, 16-, or 18-inch wheels, and a stylish rear end with LED taillights.

The mid-size Camry has dramatic front-end styling with bi-LED combination headlights, and distinctive LED DRL. It sits on 16-, 17-,18-, or on the TRD, 19-inch wheels. The sporty rear end features combination LED taillights.

Engine Options

The Corolla L, LE, and XLE feature a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 139 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. It’s paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Powering the SE and XSE is a 2.0-liter engine producing 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque via a specialized CVT with paddle shifters. The SE has the option of a six-speed manual transmission.

LE trim is available with a hybrid powertrain pairing the 1.8-liter engine with electric motors to produce a total system output of 121 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque.

Standard power for the 2020 Toyota Camry is provided by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, or in the XSE, 206 horsepower and 186 pound-feet. Standard in the TRD and optional for the XLE and XSE is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine generating 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque.

Hybrid power is available for LE, SE, and XLE trims and features a 2.5-liter engine paired with electric motors. The total output for the system is 176 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque.

Interior

Both cars seat five people in comfort, with the Corolla having a passenger volume of 88.6 cubic feet and the Camry 100.4 cubic feet (99.3 with the moonroof). The Corolla’s trunk has 13.1 cubic feet of cargo space, while the Camry can take 15.1 cubic-feet.

Technology

In the Corolla, you’ll find a 4-inch multi-information display, or in the XLE and up there’s a 7-inch display. The standard infotainment system has a 7-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa compatibility, Bluetooth, voice recognition, and six-speaker audio. Higher trim levels offer an 8-inch screen, HD and satellite radio, and the option of navigation and a nine-speaker JBL sound system. The Camry adds Android Auto compatibility and the option of a head-up display.

Driver Assist features

Standard Toyota Safety Sense on the Camry includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The Corolla adds lane tracing assist, road edge detection, sway warning system, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and road sign assist.
