  1. Skillet

Skillet, which is located at 410 E. Whittier Street, takes rustic dishes and gives them an urban edge. With a seasonally-driven menu and a focus on serving local farm products, there’s always something new at Skillet. Some of the staples include sweet brunch dishes, like biscuits, coffee cakes, scones, and cinnamon rolls. A daily “skillet fare” may include delicious duck and andouille gravy or a cheese omelet smothered in green chili. Additional menu items include soup, salad, and sandwiches, which are served after 11 a.m. Hours: Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  1. Hang Over Easy

At Hang Over Easy, you’ll find a twist on the classic diner. Known for “hangover food” and as a place to go after the party near one of the biggest party schools in America, this place is a great greasy spoon.

With two locations in Columbus, one at the Ohio State Campus and another at Olde Town East, the menu hits close to home with the Walk of Shame, which includes sausage, bacon, melted American cheese, and a fried egg on a grilled glazed buckeye donut. Other dishes include Avacodo Toast (seasoned avocado toast), Chicken and Waffles, Sloppy Seconds (a two-egg breakfast), and Pork Belly Benedict.

With an extensive omelet and sweets menu, there’s something to perk everyone up at Hang Over Easy. Hours: Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  1. Katalina’s 

This restaurant has lots of history as it is located in a 100-year-old gas station. The cafe is a hotspot for breakfast and is best known for its pancake balls. There are now two locations in Columbus, and you can’t go wrong with visiting either spot.

The most popular pancake balls are the choose-your-own filling. Filling choices include Nutella, Dulce de leche, pumpkin-apple butter with Milligan’s Bourbon, or barrel-aged maple syrup and sweet ‘n’ spicy bacon.

Other favorites include biscuits and gravy, Shagbark Huevos Rancheros, the Breakfast Chick’Wich, Mexican “French” Toast, and award-winning breakfast tacos. Katalina’s also offers lunch items including tacos, sandwiches, soups, and salads!

  1. Scotty’s Cafe

This restaurant was recently voted the No. 1 cafe in Columbus! Everything is made to order, so you get high-quality food every time you visit. Scotty’s menu is standard diner fare and has a wide variety of breakfast options, including bacon and sausage, eggs, French toast, pancakes, and oatmeal. They also serve burgers, deli sandwiches, fried fish, meatloaf, as well as soups and sandwiches. Located at 2980 E. Broad St., Scotty’s is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
