Robinson, established the Columbus Black Expo in 1980. With this initiative, she wished to empower the African American community through an annual event that features local African American vendors. By 1987, the event was drawing visitors and vendors from all over the state, prompting Robinson to change the name of the organization to Ohio Black Expo. Since then, the OBE has been held in many different cities in Ohio. These days, the event is hosted in the heart of Downtown Columbus at the Scioto Mile riverfront. Apart from a whole host of vendors and exhibits, the festival celebrates African American culture and heritage through live entertainment and exciting concerts. This event is slated for January 17th and 18th, 2020. The Beerfest will be held at Greater Columbus Convention Center and the address is 400 N High St. You'll need to be 21 to attend this event as well as a ticket. If you want to attend, without actually drinking, you may be eligible for a discounted Designated Driver ticket – be sure to ask. Stroll Around the German Village To drink in a bit of history, culture, and holiday vibes, be sure to enjoy the Village Lights at Historic German Village. This wonderful event really captures the spirit of the season - you'll love strolling the streets of this gorgeous heritage area and seeing the holiday lights. This event kicks off on December 8th, 2019. As a bonus, the German Village is a great place to do a little Christmas shopping while you enjoy yourself! Nicklaus is considered to be one of the best golfers of all time, having won almost half of the championships he participated in over his lifetime. The museum is full of Jack Nicklaus memorabilia including his golf clubs, golf bags, trophies, and interactive exhibits that show highlights of his career. Ohio Craft Museum Don't let the name of the museum fool you; you're not walking into a museum with exhibits worthy of the average craft store. The museum focuses on highlighting the current work of craftsmen and women who show mastery in their chosen medium. The museum seeks to educate viewers about the artists, their medium, and the techniques they use to create their final pieces. Stop through the gift shop to pick up a piece of work by an artist or find out about the latest workshops that are led by one of the craftspeople exhibiting at the museum. Center of Science and Industry The Center of Science and Industry, also known as COSI, brings together the natural history museum with science and industry with the result being a highly engaging and entertaining atmosphere for kids of all ages. COSI features exhibits that include live demonstrations, exhibits about the human body and what makes it work, a dinosaur gallery that plays host to dinosaur skeletons of all types from different periods of the earth's history, and a planetarium to watch movies about the sky, the universe, and space.
