Toyota has several beauties on the runway this year and one of the prettiest has got to be the newly updated 2020 C-HR. In between a classic hatchback and a small SUV, the C-HR falls snuggly into the subcompact-crossover or the “sneaker” vehicle genre. This big-little vehicle has a lot to offer in addition to its newly designed facelift, competitive price tag, and loaded interior!
Trim Levels
The 2020 C-HR is available in three trim levels: LE, XLE, and LIMITED. The LE trim level features 17-inch steel wheels, with optional upgrade to alloys, automatic LED headlights, a sporty rear spoiler, and heated mirrors. With the XLE trim, you get 18-inch alloy wheels and power-folding heated mirrors. The LIMITED trim features adaptive headlights and powerful fog lights, which are now located just below the headlights. The newly designed honeycomb pattern of the grille is stunning and looks great with the new exterior paint color options: Supersonic Red and Hot Lava.
Engine
As one of the world's leaders in fuel economy and natural resource conservation, Toyota kept the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 144 horsepower and 139 lb.-ft of torque. Because of this the C-HR still boasts impressive fuel economy
Performance
The continuously variable transmission that comes standard on all trim levels of the 2020 C-HR is reliable and heavy-duty and makes for an incredibly comfortable and leisurely ride. While completely capable of accelerating and merging into fast-moving traffic, the C-HR stands out as the “easy to handle, no need to speed, enjoy the ride” vehicle. Handling is peppy, and the suspension flawlessly controls road impacts, delivering a very stress-free ride!
Interior
The interior of the 2020 C-HR boasts a pretty impressive list of standard and optional features. Standard features across all trim levels include dual-zone automatic climate control, 4.2-inch TFT Multi-Information Display, and telescopic steering wheel with audio display and trip controls. The LIMITED trim features leather-trimmed, heated, front bucket seats, 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and 6-way adjustable front passenger seat.
With the redesigned body style, this year's C-HR sits on a 104-inch wheelbase which makes for significantly more legroom and 19 cubic feet of cargo space. A significant note is that the installation of infant car seats and booster seats is very easy with the larger interior and roomier backseat. The C-HR also features a kicking 6-speaker, 8-inch touchscreen audio system compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. The system itself features hands-free capability, voice recognition, and music streaming through Bluetooth and/or SiriusXM.
Safety Features
The safety features on all of Toyota's lineup are impressive and the C-HR is no exception! Standard features include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Optional features include blind-spot monitors, pre-collision alert, and lane departure alert with steering assist. Another impressive optional safety feature is the premium cruise control system: Full-Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. When set, this feature prevents the vehicle from getting too close to the car ahead of it, even braking to a complete stop if necessary. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration awarded the 2020 C-HR their highest safety rating.
